Privacy Policy

Pythia (“Pythia”, “we”, “us”) is a Vedic astrology and numerology tool. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the service needs — we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
1. Information we collect

Account details. When you sign up with email, we store your
email address and a scrypt hash of your password — never the
plaintext password. Legacy accounts may instead have a username. If you use
Sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's unique ID and
email address (via the
openidandemailscopes only); we never receive your Google password. - Birth details you enter. To compute a chart we use the name (optional), date, time and place of birth — including the city, latitude, longitude and UTC offset — for you and for any partner or person you choose to add.
- Astrology content. The birth charts we compute and any chat conversations you choose to save to your account.
- Technical data. A single essential session cookie (below) and standard server logs (such as IP address and request metadata) used transiently to operate and secure the service.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To compute your birth chart and compatibility, and to generate readings.
- To save and let you reload the people and conversations you store.
- To protect the service (rate-limiting, abuse prevention, debugging).
3. Service providers we share data with
We use a small number of processors to run Pythia. We share only what each needs:
- Google — only if you use Sign in with Google, to authenticate you.
- Supabase — database hosting for your account, saved people and saved chats.
- Microsoft Azure (AI Foundry), serving Anthropic's Claude — when you chat, your messages and the relevant computed chart data are sent to generate the reading. They are not used to train models.
- Open-Meteo — the city name you type is sent to look up coordinates and time zone.
- Render — application hosting.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
4. Cookies
Pythia uses one essential, HttpOnly session cookie to keep you logged in, plus a short-lived cookie during Google sign-in. We do not use advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies.
5. Data retention & your choices
- You can delete any saved person or saved conversation at any time in the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us (below). We retain data only as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations.
6. Security
Traffic is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed with scrypt, and access to stored data is restricted to the application. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Children
Pythia is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International users
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. By using Pythia you consent to this processing.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
